Micheal Murtha

Coach Michael Murtha is dedicated to developing the complete athlete, both on and off the field. His philosophy emphasizes strong fundamentals, high lacrosse IQ, and a selfless, team-first approach, with teams that play with purpose, pace, and pride.

Murtha currently serves as Head Coach of Team 91 2030 Frenzy and was named Team 91 Girls Assistant Coach of the Year in 2024. He previously led the Brookhaven Bandits Lacrosse Club (2016–2021).

At the high school level, he has coached at Syosset and Sachem East, helping lead teams to 2 Long Island Championships, 5 Nassau County titles, and 14 county finals appearances, while earning Coaching Staff of the Year honors twice. He has coached multiple athletes to High School All-American, All-County, and All-Conference honors, and has mentored players who have gone on to compete at the Division I, II, and III collegiate levels.

A 1994 graduate of Ithaca College, Murtha was a 3× All-American wrestler and a member of two NCAA Division III National Championship teams. He was inducted into the Ithaca College Hall of Fame in 2018.

Off the field, Murtha is a longtime Physical Education teacher and Strength & Conditioning coach in the Syosset School District, where he continues to mentor student-athletes.
